Athletic Training Outreach Program Philosophy
The philosophy of the Idaho Orthopaedic Athletic Training Outreach Program is to provide quality care to the athletes of local high schools that do not employ athletic trainers. While the program is basically a consultation service for sports coaches on injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, we also hold education of the athlete, parent, coach , and administrator to be paramount. The outreach program is dedicated to the health of the athlete, and will not discriminate based on sex, race, sport or athletic ability.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Outreach Program is to serve as a sports medicine resource and to provide athletic training services to communities throughout Southeastern Idaho. Resource services include education of sport injury prevention, sport injury recognition, sport injury care, sport injury rehabilitation and assistance in obtaining referrals to orthopedic specialists. Sports medicine services include providing support activities and athletic training coverage for area high schools, Idaho State University and community sporting events.
Newest Sports Medicine Staff Member
Idaho Orthopaedic and Sports Clinic would like to welcome its newest member Douglas Ashton, MS, LAT Certified Athletic Trainer back to Southeast Idaho. He returns to the area after several years in the Midwest. He received degrees from Ricks College / BYU-I, Boise State, and BYU. He served as an Outreach Coordinator of Sports Medicine for Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri and worked with several high school, college, and professional athletes in the 4-states region. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to us and is excited to be back in Southeast Idaho to provide service to the area athletic population. Sports Medicine Coverage
The Outreach Program provides medical coverage for these local area high schools:

- Soda Springs
Each school is visited one to two times a week in addition to game coverage of all sports. |
